The meteoric success of the young Uzbekistan pianist Behzod Abduraimov is no surprise to those who have heard him play. After witnessing a dazzling, heart-stopping performance of Prokofiev’s Sonata No 6 and a stupendous performance of Danse macabre with Abduraimov ‘hurling fistfuls of notes around’, one critic said, ‘Lang Lang… look out!’

Rapturous standing ovations are a feature of Behzod Abduraimov’s concerts, critics and audiences alike in awe of his fearless technique combined with a magical artistry. Recent performance highlights include an ‘electrifying performance’ of Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No 1 with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra under Grzegorz Nowak and an ‘unbelievably magnificent recital’ at the Wigmore Hall.

This richly diverse program includes Liszt’s Danse macabre, Mephisto Waltz and Brahms’ diabolical Paganini Variations. David Dubal says, ‘to play them requires fingers of steel, a heart of burning lava and the courage of a lion’. Behzod Aburaimov has proven he is up to the task.
